Plot synopsis.
•Tony is a notorious loan shark from West London who is advised by his criminal colleague Luke to loan out a large sum of £250,000 to an unknown client through a third party. Tony agrees to the deal, but as he returns home he soon uncovers a horrific scene in his home that complicates the deal entirely. Upon his arrival the door is already opened, as Tony cautiously enters the house he discovers the stabbed and bloodied body of Luke as he is slumped in chair with a balaclava concealing his face. He observes Luke`s body, as the villain lurks in the background. Tony then spots the money in the briefcase, but a noise startles him and he turns around to realise that there was nothing there, but when he returns to his normal position the killer leaps for him, violently lunging for Tony and although Tony escapes his wrath this is only temporary, as what follows is a relentless chase, as Tony must question himself how far will he go in order to keep what is rightfully his.
Characters featured in the production.
Tony Pane:
•Played by: Beau Pergusey.
•Narrative significance: Tony is the main character in the production, as his intention to escape from the villain and with his money is the narratives key focus. We have chosen Tony to be a criminal in order to allow the viewer to take this into consideration when feeling sympathy for him.
•Costume:
•Casual zip up hooded jumper
•Polo shirt
•Retail jeans
•Trainers
In the opening scene Tony will be wearing a suit.
Costume significance:
This very dark yet smartly tailored costume choice bears many similarities to what is worn to a funeral. In this light we have decided to usethis in order for it to appear that Tony is attending a funeral which ironically is likely to be his own. Furthermore the suit will also have
connotations of Tony`s career. His successful yet unlawfully abiding job allows him to indulge in a luxury life style that is expressed within his ability to afford clothes of the highest tailor. Even more so his appearance in a suit is also used to hide his criminal persona by in turn looking like an ordinary yet successful law abiding citizen. This has been seen in the 1995 production “Goodfellas” in which members of the mob dress similarly in order to not draw attention to their respective criminal lifestyles.
•Make up:
No make up techniques will be needed for Tony as he is a realistic figure unlike
the villain who undoubtedly will need much more attention in terms of
this.
He will appear bloody later in the trailer as to present the Villains violent attacks.
•Characteristics:
Tony lacks desirable morals as a criminal, but he is far from violent and inpatient.

Antagonist.
•Played by: Alfie Knight
•Narrative significance: This identity lacking maniac is Tony`s vengeful and relentless pursuer in the production trailer. He is the unknown third party that loans the £250,000 from Tony and murders his colleague Luke. It is his spontaneous appearances on screen and his murderous actions that account for the main element of horror in “Pay Day”. We have decided not to name our villain as it is unlikely that he will need to be formerly introduced at any point as his villainous ways has enforced him to have a lack of personality and identity.
•Costume:
•Ragged and torn suit
•Previously smart not dirty and worn shoes
•Equally ragged and bloodied shirt and tie
•Mask- We have chosen a very simple yet restrictive mask that covers many of the antagonists main facial features. This is in order to not give too much away in terms of the likely horrific appearance of his face. Potential viewers are likely to be intrigued by this and this will be another feature that will influence viewers to view our production. The mask will be blood stained in order to symbolize his violent ways also reflected within other aspects of his costume.
•Costume significance: In comparison to Tony`s luxury suit, the villains torn and quality lacking suit emphasises the gap between the two in terms of the criminal lifestyle they are subject to. While Tony`s job is illegal yet fairly safe and uncompromising he is allowed to indulge in an envious lifestyle while the villain who wants no more than bloodshed has little concern for his wellbeing or appearance.
•Associated props:
Knife:Normally associated with the decapitation of dead animals and with the domestic home, but in this case its purpose bypasses deceased animals as its purpose now is aimed at the human body.
•Characteristics: He is a chaotic, psychopathic and shows no mercy for any of his victims including Tony while clearly lacking any form of self control.
•Make up: Our make up techniques will ensure that the villains skin tone will be of a dirty complexion that links directly with his costume design.

Luke Watts.
•Played by: Robert Andrews
•Narrative significance: Luke is significant in terms of the origin of the narrative. It is his suggestion to Tony that leads to his own death and possibly Tony`s, not to mention he is also the deliverer of Tony`s money. Apart from his verbal significance at the beginning of the trailer he is simply another of the villains many victims.
•Costume:
•Suit (blazer and tailored trousers)
•Black smart shoes
•Smart shirt and black tie
Costume significance: Luke`s costume is very similar to Tony`s as this indicates clearly that they are colleagues. As Luke is not a major character his costume doesn’t conceal any symbolism or significance.
Associatedprops: Briefcase
full of Tony`s cash): As he is the delivery man for the money and due to it being found next to his deceased body this prop is closely linked to
Luke.
Characteristics: Although the viewer wont get much insight into Luke due to him being such a minor character, the early verbal encounters between him and Tony indicates that he is very similar to Tony in terms of his mannerisms.

Make up and props.
As part of creating an appropriate mise-en-scene the props that will be featured in our production to reflect the genre of our production. Typically as analysed in our research the props tend to be associated with something symbolic of violence, bloodshed and mystery. With this in mind we have decided to include the following props in our production:
–Knife (connotations of violence in the domestic home)
–Briefcase
–Money (linking directly to our plot)
–Mobile phone
–Keys
Our make up techniques will be focused on making our characters appear as distraught and victimised (or in fact the perpetrator) when appropriate. Primarily the use of blood will be our main feature as it will be used for the following:
•Our antagonists costume (mask and suit)
•Props- Knife
•Character- Luke Watts- head wound
•Blood is a key component of many horror productions as it is a major aspect of its codes and conventions with connotations of violence that is reflective of our antagonist and our plot.
Costume design.
Antagonist:
For our nameless villain we are planning to alter a tailored suit in order to present him as a twisted version of the contemporary criminal that Tony
portrays. The suit will be ripped and blood stained and appear ruined as a piece of seemingly unbearable clothing. By doing so we are intending to follow the codes and conventions of a villains costume design as it is rare and also inappropriate for a villain such as ours to appear wealthy or well presented. Furthermore his mask will be altered to appear heavily blood stained to express this further.
•Tony: Tony on the other hand will be a more presentable character. He will be seen in a clean tailored suit along with a heavy coat/jacket all of which express his successful criminal career as a loan shark. Loan sharks are not an aspect of horror usually covered in the mainstream cinema, so by including this variation of character we are inevitably challenging the codes and conventions.
•Luke:
Luke will also bear some similarities to Tony`s costume excluding his jacket/blazer as due to his position in the scene it is clear he has been
attacked and therefore make up techniques will be necessary to present his fate. Luke's costume will be smart wear and has the same significance in terms of success in criminal activity.

Lighting and setting.
Our primary setting in the production will be the domestic home (Tony`s). It is the central point in terms of uncovering the story and has been typically used in many contemporary horrors such as “Scream” to the same effect and therefore it is a fitting choice. The garden of the home along with the living room will be the aspects of the home used the most as their will be a clear lighting differences between the artificial light indoors and the heavy darkness outside. Lighting will be provided inside the home however outside a small electric powered light just above where we are shooting will be used. This is to avoid total darkness in our shooting as by using minimal lighting we will be able to easily visualise the action while acknowledging it is night time and darkness is present.
However at the beginning of our trailer we filmed at the local park ( a very rural and quiet area) and we also filmed this in the day time. Although this is not one of a horror trailers typical codes and conventions we are going to use this scene
in order to present Tony`s feelings in a transition from an optimistic life changing deal to a vengeful and merciless pursuit for dirty cash. We will also use local roads, other rural areas and other areas of the domestic home for the more minor scenes which all will be filmed at night and therefore will require a form of artificial light.

Cinematography.
As a low budget horror production we will be using two digital cameras to film our work.
Using such small cameras gives us many advantages such as:
•The freedom to experiment with a variety of shots
•Ability to use the handheld shaky camera shot effectively
•Being able to perform high angle shots which would prove far more difficult than with a larger filming device
Understandably the footage we will have obtained will not be of the highest quality so in order to increase our quality of film necessary for a polished trailer we will be developing and editing the film. We will use the program “Sony Vegas” to do so, as not only can we increase the quality of our work, but we will be able to edit in our credits, on screen text and images, fades, cuts and our soundtrack.

Sound editing.
Once again the audio of our characters dialogue in the original clips will not be of the highest quality, therefore we will use the “Sony Vegas” program to increase the volume of those characters talking in accordance to the soundtrack and other diegetic and non diegetic sound.
We will also be creating our own soundtrack for the film trailer. Our two main choices will consist of an optimistic upbeat piece of music to present Tony`s belief that he is going to benefit greatly from the deal and a heavy and sharp piece of dreary music to present the sudden change of fate. Our first soundtrack choice clearly doesn’t follow the codes and conventions of a typical horror soundtrack, however we believe it is appropriate for our plot as our second choice of music will solidify this due to the clear and significant change in soundtrack that is reflective of Tony`s fate.
Other elements of original sound creation and editing will include, sharp thuds, floor creaking etc.
