The identity of our magazine.
“Absolute Horror”: We have chosen this name for our magazine in order for it to appeal to the genre of film we are focusing on. The name implies that the magazine is totally dedicated to the Horror genre and can be relied on for its ability to offer a selection of appropriate stories to the readers.
What our magazine offers: We are planning to offer a selection of material in our magazine that the viewer will be able to notice on the front cover as they will appear under subtitles.
• Exclusive interviews
Behind the scenes look at a specific horror production
• Upcoming and anticipated horror films of 2013
• A horror genre quiz The key focus: Despite a vast selection of other horror related material the key focus of Absolute Horror will be our production “Payday”. Our front cover will inform the reader of the exclusive look at “Payday” that will be inside the magazine. Our focus will be expressed further by the use of an image of our antagonist that will be centred on the cover. The image will be a mid-shot and will portray our antagonist as a clouded figure that will lead to many readers wanting to find out more about the character that will be covered inside.

We are aiming at an audience with a large enough household income to ensure that we gain regular readers in oppose to customers not dedicated to buying the magazine every week upon its release. We are aiming at customers who will also be likely to attend the cinema regularly as they would be more inclined and likely to have seen “Payday” as well as other horror productions. Their enjoyment at the cinema can be transferred to the content we offer in our magazine as we offer readers the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the horror genre.

Addressing our readers.
Based on the knowledge gained from our preliminary research and questionnaire results we will use a selection of literary devices on our magazine cover that will appeal to the audience and allow our magazine to be engaged with by the readers.
We have identified the following literary devices as essential to our cover:
Alliteration, pun and play on words.
These devices will assist in adding an intentional informal tone to our magazine. Bearing similarities to the “Empire” we do not wish for our cover to appear daunting or inaccessible, as by doing so it is likely we will reduce the numberof readers interested in our magazine. By doing this our magazine will open to those of all reading levels and more importantly allow all readers to engage with our magazine due to the light approach we take.
After studying our research we have decided to adopt a typical horror colour scheme for our cover that follows the typical codes and conventions for the genre. The scheme will consist of primarily black and red.
